چکیده

Research into the usage of locally available construction material is essential and beneficial in ensuring a cost-effective project. One natural resources that be used as supplementary cementitious metakaolin. This research aims to investigate performance mortar reinforced with micro- ultrafine metakaolin based on compressive strength water absorption tests. Locally sourced was mixed cement after calcined at 800C variation amount 0%, 5%, 10% by wt. The tests were conducted 50mmx50mmx50mm cube specimens curing 7 28 days, following ASTM-standards. Results show containing ultrafine-metakaolin (MK-10 UM-10) exhibited highest better water-resistance characteristics when compared control mortar. In this case, addition (UM-10) reached value approximately 121% 100% higher than 7th 28th day, respectively. Additionally, UM-10 days found 86% 30% lower PCC MK-10, Furthermore, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Thermogravimetric graphs pastes indicate reduction CH; therefore, production more CSH gel. densification paste also confirmed nitrogen adsorption analysis indicating ultrafine-metakaolin's inert filler effect forming denser matrix.

Effect of Slag, Natural Pozzolana and Metakaolin on Mortar Properties

The objective of this study is to examine the effect of substitution of cement by three different mineral additions, on the mortar rheological and mechanical properties. This experimentation, considers the fineness of mineral additives with a constant workability. Ordinary Portland Cement was partially replaced by different percentages of slag, pozzolana and metakaolin of 10, 20 and 30%. The ob...

Wet/Dry Cycling Durability of Cement Mortar Composites Reinforced with Micro- and Nanoscale Cellulose Pulps

A combination of reinforcements at different levels can have a synergetic effect on the final properties of a composite. The aim of this work was to produce, evaluate, and compare the wet/dry cycling durability of the exposure of cement composites reinforced with conventional pulps at the micro-scale level, with nanofibrillated cellulose fibers at the nano-scale level, and with combinations of ...

Improvement of Early Strength of Cement Mortar Containing Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Using Industrial Byproducts

In the field of construction, securing the early strength of concrete (on the first and third days of aging) has been an important problem in deciding the mold release time (i.e., shortening the construction time period). Therefore, the problem of reduced compressive strength in the early aging stage caused by mixing granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) with concrete must certainly be resolved....

Performance Evaluation and Microstructure Characterization of Metakaolin-Based Geopolymer Containing Oil Palm Ash

This study reports on the microstructure, compressive strength, and drying shrinkage of metakaolin (MK) based geopolymers produced by partially replacing MK by oil palm ash (OPA). The OPA was used as raw material producing different molar ratios of SiO₂/Al₂O₃ and CaO/SiO₂. The geopolymer samples were cured at 80°C for 1, 2, or 4 hours and kept at ambient temperature until testing. The compressi...

Feasibility of Water Containing Metal Ions as Mixing Water in Cement Mortar

Most of the world’s water is saline and is contained in the oceans. Only about 2% of it is fresh of which 97% is tied up in the polar caps in the form of permanent snow and in deep depths below the ground. Scarcity of potable water for the construction is the main reason to look for alternate source of water. Industrial waste water is potential alternate for construction industry. Recycling and...
